Chance of developing imperviousness to anaesthetic drug due to its prolonged usage any within humans or within animals ?

On prolonged usage of certain anaesthetic drugs, the user may develop imperviousness to that drug, so that the required level of anaesthesia does not set contained by if the drug is use for the next time. Is any medical literature on this topic ? Yes, its not imperviousness though, its tolerance. Generally, after a few weeks, the tolerance disappears.
Its common experience, but why don't you ask a qualified doctor whom you trust?
