cause of g6 phosphate?

Glucose-6-phosphate is a phosphorylated glucose molecule on carbon 6. When glucose enters a cell, it is straight away phosphorylated to G6P. This is catalyzed with hexokinase enzymes, thus consuming one ATP.
A foremost reason for on the spot phosphorylation of the glucose is so that it cannot diffuse out of the cell.
N.B. if you asking about G6P dehydrogenase enzyme fewer it is a different story.
Please see the webage for more details on Glucose6 Phosphate Dehydrogenase and its deficiency.
