Can you own a friend/relative/spouse surrounded by the room next to you during your ob/gyn exam?

Are there restrictions against this? What if you're afraid to jump it alone due to a past experience? my doctor have never had an issue next to this..It would seem pretty shady to me if they did own a problem with it.
Yes doctors allow this if the woman asks, the partner stands to the side or at her manager.
